TK-3 Investigating, Sensemaking, and Communicating Practices in STEM Learning
Friday July 25, 2025 9:40am - 10:40am PDT
STEM Learning experiences engage young children because they are hands-on, mind-on opportunities to investigate, make sense of the world around them, and communicate discoveries. Teachers will learn strategies to design kinesthetic, "unplugged" pre-coding activities that support learner agency and choice as well as scaffold for computational thinking and later experiences with coding and computer science. Teachers will also learn how to employ STEM notebooks with young children to support their cognitive growth as they engage in the Science & Engineering and Mathematical Practices during their hands-on investigations and explorations.
